I'm starting a new venture this year called Project Life 2012 and I am so excited about it!
It is not my original idea. I actually learned about it from a fellow blogger named Jessica Turner (a.k.a. themomcreative.com -- when I figure out how to post links, hers will be the first!). Project Life is the creation of Becky Higgins (beckyhiggins.com) and I'm crazy about the concept! It's a back-to-basics method of scrap booking. I hesitate to even use the word "scrapbook" because it conjors up visions of working long, tedious hours and spending lots of money. This is a much simpler version that really works for me.
I'm going to use PL to combine photos, brief journaling, and as much or as little creativity as I choose on any given day (or week, to be more realistic.) I think I'll also incorporate some of the gratitude journaling that I've been wanting to do. A minimalist approach to memory keeping. It's simple...just the way I like things.
This blog is going to be my "idea board". I'll be recording photos, thoughts, gratitudes, events and ideas for my PL here daily (or at least several times a week) and then using it as my "memory" when I get around to making my actual lifebook.
This project is going to require lots of picture taking, which is not a strong suit of mine...yet. I'm going to try to use my iPhone and my iPad, so I'm learning how to use Instagram. So far I'm loving it!
Know what the funny thing is about all this? I have no idea what to take pictures or what to write. My life is rather boring. A good sort of boring, but still...now that I'm empty-nesting and actually have time to do a project like this, I have no idea where to start.
That's where the gratitude part comes in. I think this project will make me take a closer look at the details of my life and allow me to put down on paper the innumerable blessings that fill my days and weeks.
My family is my joy, so lots of this project (and this blog) will center around them. But my kiddos are all grown and out of the house, and my extended family is all out of town, so I'll also be focusing a lot on the season that I'm in right now...I call it Hubby & Friends.
I'll post my progress along the way and I'll link to the other PL2012 sites...as soon as I figure out how. :)
Happy Sunday!
